Hi all! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! I am a little late with my update from this weekend. My bestie was in town, so our weekend was JAM PACKED with fun adventures. Angela arrived Friday afternoon and of course I had our itinerary off to a running start as soon as she touched down. That afternoon, we had afternoon tea at LoveJoy's Tea Room which is adorable eclectic tea and antique shop in Noe Valley. We both went with the Cream Tea service which included amazing scones. If anyone is from the south and knows what a Bojangles Boberry biscuit is, then these scones would be right up your alley! You can make reservations in advance through their website and I would recommend it (especially for the weekends).
Friday night we headed out to Gashead Tavern in the Mission for happy hour. They actually did not have very good happy hour specials, so we walked over to Teeth SF (formerly Dr. Teeth) for a couple more cheaper drinks. Afterwards, we went down to Skylark for their Friday night "No Cover Cabaret". Some parts of the show were very good, while others were not so great. But, it was fun for a free show! Finally, we took an Uber over to Mr. Smith's for some dancing. The DJ downstairs was awesome because he pretty much played whatever we asked for! We definitely danced it out to some college throwbacks all night long! We didn't do very well taking photos that night... I'll blame that on excitement and dark bars!
Saturday morning, Angela and I met up with a friend for a dance class. I won't go into the class details because overall it was not very good. After class, we headed to Nopa for brunch. I have been wanting to try Nopa for a very long time, so I was very excited. The biscuits and coffee were excellent and the rest of the food was good too. I think my favorite part of the meal was the mushroom polenta! They take reservations at Nopa and I highly recommend making them unless you are willing to wait an hour (or more). Just be sure to plan ahead because brunch fills up fast! I think I made my reservations exactly 30 days in advance at midnight. Brunch is serious in SF.
Saturday night we had a romantic BFF date at Delfina down in the mission. This is another restaurant that I have been dying to try. I love it when people visit because then I have an excuse to try new places! We split the hanger steak and the spaghetti. Both were wonderful! Next time, I am for sure trying the olive oil mashed potatoes. They looked delicious!
Sunday was a roadtrip kind of day! We drove down to Pescadero which is a cute town along the way to Santa Cruz on highway 1. There are tons of state beaches on the drive and beautiful coastline. We stopped at Pigeon Point Lighthouse for some photos and spectacular views. There is a hostel right beside the lighthouse that looks like a cool location for an overnight! After the lighthouse, we go a bit lost! Be sure to bring a map because cell reception is VERY spotty. OOPS! We finally found Pescadero's tiny downtown, and had lunch at Pescadero Country Store. The restaurant is a deli/pizza place with a lovely backyard seating area. Afterwards, we walked over to Duarte’s Tavern for some of their famous pie. I got peach and Angela got olallieberry which is a berry we'd both never heard of! Both were tasty! We also stopped in Arcangeli Grocery for their famous artichoke bread before heading back to SF. Overall, Pescadero was a cute little town with restaurants and shopping that I would go back to on the way to Santa Cruz/Monterey .
The day did not stop for us after our road trip! We changed quickly and cabbed over to the SoMa StrEat Food Park to meet Adrienne for their Oscar Viewing party. Who's excited Leo finally won?! ;-) The event was great because it was not too crowded and they had Oscar Bingo to keep you entertained. The food truck park can get SUPER crowded depending on weather. We had purchased an all you can drink champagne voucher prior to the event and it was definitely worth it! The Streat Food park in SoMA is open every day with varying events throughout the month. The food trucks also rotate depending on day and event. I think my favorites are Curry up Now, Koja Kitchen, and Smokin' Warehouse BBQ. YUM.
We had a blast this weekend and I want Angela to come back STAT! Well, maybe after I catch up on my sleep! hah!
Hope everyone has a great start to their week! Did you do anything fun over the weekend?
