San Francisco was absolutely lovely this weekend! Here's a few highlights from the weekend since I did not document very well and had school.
Dinner at Scotland Yard (again, I know!). Steven and I had a Gilt deal. I was good, but I've never had such a salty kale salad in all my life!
Wine across the street at Reed & Greenough. They have happy hour until 7pm (and ALL DAY Sunday).
Night out with the gals at DNA/Bootie.
Kitten photo of the weekend. Every cat loves a good cardboard box.
Have a wonderful weekend, y'all!
Spring time has finally sprung in the bay area. The days are getting warmer & longer and finally no more constant rain. This weekend was a short one because of classes on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, I did get a wine delivery from Club W. I decided to cancel the service though because they don't let you skip a few months at a time. This wine delivery was definitely a surprise and I don't like surprise monetary deductions. I also had to lug it home from work which was not fun! It is fun to try new labels and varietals though, so maybe one day I'll subscribe again.
Saturday after class, I rushed home to watch the UNC basketball game. We won! And unfortunately we didn't win last night #sadtarheel. That night my friend, Marissa, and I went out in the Marina. I RARELY go out in the marina, but we decided to give it a try. Our first stop was Eastside West Bar. It was WAY too crowded, but at least there was no cover. We only hung out for a bit before we decided we needed more space and less people running into us. We headed over to HiFi which a smaller bar with a dance floor. We had so much fun there! It was very laid back, the bartenders were super friendly, and way less crowded. We also had an intense coaster throwing contest with the bartenders, so overall great fun! :-)
Sunday afternoon, I crawled out of bed (man, I'm old... can't handle being over-served!) and met Adrienne out at Off the Grid in the Presidio. It was a wonderful sunny day, but was quite chilly when the wind blew. I'm also not sure if it was because of opening day, but OMG it was packed! We found the shortest line possible and waited there for at least 30 minutes before ordering. We both got food from SugerFoot BBQ. It was good food but not what I was craving. We enjoyed the sun for awhile and split a bottle of wine. Hopefully if we go again the crowds won't be as insane!
The rest of Sunday was spent at home while catching up on Netflix. Yesterday, I actaully did something fun for it being a Monday. I met Steven and a few other friends at HiTops which is a sportsbar in the Castro to watch the Carolina game. Also, the Carolina loss. :-( What a let down! Oh well, still proud to be a Tarheel! One thing that made the night better were the wings. HiTops has amazing wing sauce! I loved it.
It's Steven's birthday tonight, so I'll be doing something fun again! Have an amazing week y'all!
Happy Monday all! This weekend was a wet one here in San Francisco, so overall I did not accomplish very much. It was very relaxing though which was a nice change of pace! Friday night I stayed in after going to class, so not much to report there. I did discover a new show on Netflix- Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. It is about a lady detective in Australia during the 1920s. It can be pretty corny at times, but I have decided to go all in. Netflix binge worthy in my books!
Saturday I woke up relatively early and went to a circuit class at CardioTone in Noe Valley. We did 3 circuits 2 times through and each circuit had 4 different stations. Overall the class is good, sweaty, and always different circuits so never boring. Plus, I have liked all my teachers thus far at this location! Saturday was also a school day, so after making breakfast I went to class for a quick 4 hours. (Only joking... 4 hours is never quick!) Afterwards, I stayed in since it was basically a monsoon outside.
I was so proud of myself on Saturday for making all of my meals (plus unpictured snacks) at home since I had some produce and other things to use up before they went bad. For breakfast I made an egg sandwich on Dave's Killer Bread (yum) and had a bowl of cereal right before school. Anyone else love Puffins? They are probably my most favorite cereal! My dinner though... not healthy, but it was delicious! I was definitely craving comfort foods during the rainy weather. The snow peas made up for the mac & cheese PLUS mashed potatoes, right? RIGHT!
After some much needed sleep on Saturday night, Sunday I woke up to go to class at Salt in NoPa. Unfortunately, parking was DISASTROUS because a farmer's market had shut down a section of the street. I had definitely seen this market before, but it totally slipped my mind! Anyway, I showed up 7 minutes late to class and was not allowed in. I have never tried this class before, so I was excited for a new experience. Oh Well!
After I was turned away, I walked over to the farmer's market and got a juice from Juicy Lucy. I got the La Vampira which is beet, parsley, celery, carrot, lemon, ginger, and cayenne. Man that thing was spicy! The market was very small and mostly produce, but the morning was beautiful so it was nice just to walk around.
After the market, I went home and did my own circuit workout. Then I got ready to meet Adrienne at Scotland Yard in the Marina for a late brunch. We had purchased a Gilt City deal which got us $100 worth of food and drink for $60. Since we had so much to spend, we kind of went all out. Yay fancy brunch! We tried the chicken and waffle bites which were delicious. I also had the egg sandwich which was kind of like a fancy egg McMuffin and Adrienne had the biscuits and gravy. Both were very good! We also split the cool ranch french fries. These were not what we were expecting and I would not get them again. I'm not sure what I was expecting though! Overall, I would recommend this place for brunch. I also hear their burger is amazing. Maybe next time! They do take reservations and during brunch they have bottomless mimosas for $16. After brunch, we headed over to Reed & Greenough for one (or two!) more glasses of wine. I really like this place because they have live piano music throughout the night and comfy couches. They also have a pool table if you're into that!
Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and a great Monday so far!
