Saturday night, for my belated birthday party, some girlfriends and I all headed out to a dance party at the Underground in the lower haight. This wasn't just any dance party. This dance party played 90's and early 00's bubblegum pop all night long, and had my inner BSB fan-girl screaming to get out. The party started at 10pm, so we donned our Lisa Frank stickers and ring pops before heading on over.
We had been to this party once before, and while the music was still great, the crowds were a bit overwhelming this time. Lindsay Slowhands is the fabulous DJ who preforms all night. At midnight, Lindsay and her Drag Queen posse preform a spectacular lip-syncing extravaganza. I would definitely recommend hitting this party at least once while in SF. Especially if you have a love for early Britney, N'Sync, and the Spicegirls like I do. It is every second Saturday of the month and costs $5 to get in. Once you're in, the drinks are super cheap. Extra credit in my books!
There are few bar nearby if you wanted to hit them up before the party started. Danny Coyle's is a laid back sports bar that I love because they televise all the games from my college. They even have the big blue cups from a favorite hometown bar! A little bit of North Carolina in San Francisco. Also nearby is the trendier Blacksands which has home-brewed beer and bites.
Sunday morning, my friend Adrienne and I headed to The Front Porch in the Mission District for a delicious brunch in hopes of remedying having too much fun on Saturday night. I have had dinner here many times and would recommend the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and mac & cheese. FOR SURE. These are my three favorite foods though... true southern girl at heart! For brunch, we both had the "stoner stack" which is a very SF appropriate title. It was a chicken, bacon, and cheese biscuit with to die for cheddar grits on the side.
Never mind the coca-cola in the photo! Although, it is the perfect cure to being "over-served" the night before. ;-) Afterwards, we headed to Delores Park for a bit of wine and sunshine before the inevitable chill swept through at the end of the afternoon. When I arrived home, these beautiful flowers were waiting for me from the boyfriend. He's off training, so we did not get to spend Valentine's together. Don't worry, we celebrated early!
